Roman Writing

There was a Roman scribe in attendance at the camp, who showed all the different methods of writing - parchment, wax tablets, etc. She explained how Roman wills were written and sealed (on two pieces of wood which were stuck held together with tape, then the seals of the witnesses were affixed to the tape). She also said that the earliest piece of writing definitely known to be by a female in Britain was from a Roman writing a p.s. to her sister on the bottom of a letter, inviting her to a celebration.
