Row Enclosure

The Rows used to cover more of Chester than they do today. In some streets they were slowly enclosed, but in Lower Bridge St there is one house that remains unenclosed, to show you how it used to look. Eventually, a law was passed forbidding enclosure, so that Chester could keep its' distinctive method of shopping.
